Recently a piece of my art, "Butterflies Flight" was accepted into the semi-annual show of art, which lines a long, long, l-o-n-g hallway where patients, doctors and visitors transit through on a regular basis. Instead of blank white walls stretching ahead of you, there is, instead, a wonderful gallery of work by local artists. One of my passions is placing art in public spaces where people wait...a library, a chiropractor's office, a homeless shelter, a nursing home... so I was very pleased to have my work included. Below is an excerpt from their website (http://ouraberdeen.com/healinggallery/ ).
The Healing Gallery at Grays Harbor Community Hospital is a unique opportunity celebrating the visual arts, together with the art of medicine. The Customer Experience Team at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in conjunction with Our Aberdeen have brought together a collection of artwork from talented local artists allowing patients, doctors, hospital staff, and the general public to experience the calming and healing properties of art.
This is an awesome idea! I think it's great that art is being displayed in a hospital. I'm so happy for you that your artwork was chosen. Hugs! Wendy
