TRANSFORMATIONS: An Altered book for "Visual Packrats"

Many of the altered books I create are simply bursting with all the images (antique, vintage, recently old, new....LOL) that I collect and treasure. They will never appear in my artwork, I just like looking at them :-).

That said, thought I'd share one of my favorites called TRANSFORMATIONS because I used that as a theme to put unusual things together. I ended up giving it to another artist friend who has unblievably challenging helath issues so that she would have "Eye Candy"  to distract her.

This is the cover. I created it my fusing fabrics and shapes together and adding stitching. Then I glued it to the book cover and added the typewriter letters (3 dimensional stickers) across the top.

The text on the lefthand page reads "Why?" I asked; 5. We must learn our hearts desire; on the righthand page it says GET YOUR DOLLIES

The text on the lefthand page says (top) finikin: dainty pretty; Draw attention to your Inspirtaion. Can you spot the fabric? puzzle pieces? playing card?

The words on the list on the righthand page are from an old, old spelling book and are amount, bound, sound, pour, thought, crowd, shower, shown.

On the lefthand page is an piece of old vintage paper advertising a booklet that will help you TALK CORRECTLY to which the righthand page response is Whatever.

The stamp is from Ecuador and the jeweled flower from a gift catalog.

The text on the lefthand page reads: Still Chasing The Shape of Dreams. In the uper corner of the lefthand page is a vintage lottery ticket from France.

The text under the vintage iillustration of the chickadee reads "repeat 5 times" above the notes.

The text on the lefthand page reads: Believe in being more than.... Notice the puzzle piece over the eye of the doll picture (I cut out the image inside the actual stamp from Hungary and used it as a frame.

The text on the lefthand page reads: The Legend Awaits and the stamps are quite old, from the Belgian Congo.

The text on the lefthand page says: Let this day be a looking glass of dreams...

The text on the righthand page says: What does the heart remember?

The text on the lefthand page says: Rethink telling time by the clock and shows a beautiful young woman peering into the looking glass at an uncertain future....

Text on the lefthand page says: WONDER caught you; the definition of wonder below the butterfly girl is from an English - Japanese dictionary. The illustration on the left is of the old art of phrenecology illustrating where different traits and emotions are located.  I couldn't find a place for wonder there...
