I find the little parts and pieces of fine china that make it to the local thrift store so charming, even if they are missing a cup or a handle or a saucer. This saucer caught my eye because of the beautiful and unusual colors (roses seem always to be shades of red or pink or peach) in the handpainted rose. The text is from an mid-1800s legal document; the painted papers started life as paper bags, and the corrugated paper is painted and stripped from the inside of light bulb packaging. :-)
